FAQs About Printing at Novatex Graphics - Novatex Serigraphics Inc.

While printing seems to be an easy task, there are several details that must be taken into consideration in order to convert your idea into printable material. At Novatex Serigraphics Inc, we want to arm you with the most accurate information available so that you’re not faced with any unwanted surprises when getting a printing job.

To ensure this, we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions about printing at Novatex Serigraphics Inc.

1. What do you print there?

The simple answer is decals and signs. However, there is no simple answer to this question these days with the advent of digital printing. If we're talking about screen printing only, there is no doubt that decals and signs make up the majority of what we do.

2. What is screen printing?

Screen printing is essentially the same today as it was centuries ago. The only difference is that technology has advanced so that the screens, meshes, inks, and squeegees we use now allow for greater predictability and better results. The inks have also advanced to the point where there is a formulation for just about any material you can think of, and these inks now conform to environmental regulations.

3. I thought only T-shirts were screen printed these days.

If you look on the internet, it seems this way! However, screen printing still has a strong presence in the marketing industry. It is still the number one way to imprint panels, faceplates, and chassis used in the electronics industry, which includes agriculture, mining, and even aerospace. It is also still the most economical way to print larger orders of decals and signs as well, which is why companies that only offer digital printing will often come to us for these orders, and then resell them to the end user.

4. How do I know when to screen print and when to go digital?

The truth is that it's not always easy to know! But, there are some obvious indicators that may help. Number one is quantity - If you only need one or a dozen they will most likely be digitally printed. Number two is size - If it's big, it will be digitally printed. However, there are many times where we actually have to figure out both methods to see which is cheapest. For example, we would digitally print five hundred decals that are two inches by one inch, but if they were two feet by one foot, I would probably go to a screen print, particularly if they were only one or two colors. Number three is, what is my product being used for? If it's a banner or a vehicle decal it will be digitally printed since there are so many digital materials made for these uses.

5. Which is better - digital or screen printing?

I don't think one method is better than the other, except as it relates to the above reasons. Both have their place, but ultimately, this issue comes down to price. We like to make sure that our customers get the best deal possible!

6. Do you print T-shirts?

No. But, we can print transfers and we can press them onto supplied shirts.

7. What about promotional items?

We work with other promotional companies on items for their customers and we can offer some to our own client base. However, we're not the place to come for five hundred pens or notebooks. However, in concert with our Roland LEF-20 flatbed printer, we can personalize a variety of supplied products such as USB's, mugs and plaques. And, as mentioned above we can individualize T-shirts. If you're looking for decals and magnets though, we can do larger quantities with no problem.
